Buchanan, Grand Bassa County: The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), through its Public Financial Reform Coordination Division, has launched a comprehensive five-day workshop in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
This event brings together key stakeholders and partners to deliberate on the implementation of the Public Financial Management (PFM) strategy and action plan for 2024-2027.
This comprehensive approach aims to strengthen Liberia’s financial management systems and promote transparency and accountability.
The workshop commenced on Monday, March 31, 2025, and is scheduled to conclude on April 4, 2025. Its primary objective is to conduct an analytical review of various financial management instruments to identify critical adjustments necessary for their relevance and effectiveness in addressing current demands within the PFM sector.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs, Anthony Myers, emphasized that participants will explore challenges associated with budget preparation, approval processes, execution plans, budgetary transfers, and the application of various revenue laws.
The workshop has brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Assistant Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Directors from various ministries and agencies, representatives from Civil Society Organizations, and members of the City Government. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of stakeholder engagement in advancing the objectives of the Public Financial Management framework.
By fostering dialogue and shared learning among key financial management personnel, the MFDP aims to ensure that Liberia’s financial policies and practices are well-equipped to support sustainable development and economic stability.
