Liberia to Host 2025 West Africa Logistics Conference, AFRICOM Announces

Monrovia, Liberia: In a major boost to regional cooperation, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has announced that Liberia will host the 2025 West Africa Logistics Conference (WALC) — the first time the country will serve as host of the high-level event.

The announcement was made by Air Force Brigadier General George “Dutch” Dietrich, AFRICOM’s Director of Logistics, in an official statement highlighting the significance of the decision and its potential impact on regional logistics and security collaboration.

“I am thrilled to announce this significant milestone in ongoing efforts to strengthen regional collaboration and logistics capabilities across West Africa,” Gen. Dietrich stated. “Liberia’s selection as cohost underscores its growing role in regional security and its commitment to fostering stability and cooperation.”

Scheduled for 2025, the WALC will bring together military and civilian leaders from across the region to address shared logistical challenges and develop aligned strategies to enhance interoperability and operational readiness.

Building on the success of the 2024 WALC held in Cameroon, this year’s conference will focus on key themes such as supply chain security, doctrine harmonization, sustainable procurement practices, and expanding logistics networks to support both security and humanitarian operations.

“Logistics remains the backbone of all operations and is especially critical in a place as vast as the African continent,” Gen. Dietrich emphasized.

AFRICOM praised Liberia’s ongoing efforts to prepare for the event and reaffirmed its commitment to partnering closely with the Armed Forces of Liberia and other West African defense institutions in the months ahead.

The 2025 WALC will feature dynamic panels, practical knowledge-sharing sessions, and partner-led discussions designed to exchange best practices, explore innovative solutions, and reinforce regional readiness to respond to emerging challenges.

Through this strategic engagement, U.S. Africa Command and its partners aim to advance peace, stability, and prosperity across the region by fortifying the logistics infrastructure essential to collective security and emergency response.
